WDA students place at state speech competition

JAMESTOWN – Seven Western Dakota Association schools had students place at the the recent Class A speech competition. Bismarck St. Mary’s, the WDA meet champion, was the top team from the WDA, finishing third. West Fargo Horace was champion with WF Sheyenne as runner-up. Bismarck Century, Dickinson, Jamestown, Mandan, Minot High and Watford City, in addition to St. Mary’s, had students place in the 14 categories. Bismarck Century led the way with three three category wins. Kallyn Shirley (speech to entertain); August Phillips (speech to persuade) and A. Phillips and Haley Mezger (serious duo). Mandan’s Isaac Peterschuk and Michael Storsved was first in humorous duo. Thie marked the 71st annual event sponsored by the NDHSAA. Jamestown High School hosted the event.
