Six all-WDA golfers return for 2023 season

BISMARCK – Six all-conference golfers return to their respective teams as the 2023 WDA season will tee off on Friday, Aug. 11 in Watford City.

The Watford City Invite is the first of nine varsity regular season tournaments.

The returning all-conference finishers based on 2022 scoring in tournaments were: Anna Huettl, Mandan; Ruby Heydt, Mandan; Brooke Hollar, Bismarck Legacy; Morgan Strange, Minot High; Paige Breuer, Bismarck High; and Abi Schneider, Bismarck St. Mary’s.

 The West Region Tournament is Sept. 25 at Bismarck’s Tom O’Leary G.C. and hosted by Bismarck Public Schools. The top six team finishers will qualify for the Class A Tournament to be held at the Grand Forks Country Club, Oct 2-3.

Bismarck Century is the defending WDA, West Region Tournament and Class A Tournament champion. However, the Patriots were hit heavy  with the graduation of three standout players. Mandan, meanwhile, will be a strong contender for the conference title and make a push toward the Class A championship. The Braves, which finished second in WDA scoring average behind Century, returns its complete roster. 

Tees at the bottom of the bag: This will be the 45^th season of WDA-sponsored girls’ golf…Katie Hemmer takes the reins as head coach at Jamestown…TMCHS Belcourt will host a tournament in Carrington on Aug. 22…Bismarck Century has won the past five WDA regular season titles.
