BISMARCK - Minot United defended its WDA Tournament Championship with a 2-0 victory over Bismarck Legacy at the VFW Sports Center on Feb. 21. Minot United fired 13 shots on goal in the opening period and led 1-0 after converting on the power play. That was all Minot United goalie Luke Richeson would need in terms of offensive support. He turned away all 24 Legacy shots to pick up the shutout. Minot United struck just 2:51 into the opening period on Cole Richeson's power play marker. Michael Ell extended Minot's led to 2-0 after two periods. The win elevated Minot United to a 22-4 overall record and gave the squad the top seed from the WDA at the ND state tournament. Legacy will enter the tournament as a No. 2 seed.
