Minot High is clear-cut choice for WDA soccer title

BISMARCK – No program has been as dominant on the girls' soccer pitch as Minot High. The Majettes have won the past three WDA and state titles while going unbeaten over that stretch. And 2024 could be another stellar season for the squad. Minot High earned 64 points and eight first place votes; the maximum it could receive in the WDA preseason coaches' poll. Mandan and Bismarck High tied for second in voting with 49 points. Mandan did, however, pick up the final first place vote. Bismarck Legacy was just a point behind in fourth. Teams received eight points for a first place vote; 7 for second; 6 for third; 5 for fourth; 4 four fifth; 3 for sixth; 2 for seventh; and 1 for eighth place. Coaches did not vote for their own teams. The annual poll was conducted by Matt Mullally, WDA executive director. The 28th season of WDA-sponsored play will start on Friday, April 5, weather permitting. WDA teams will play a double round robin schedule. The top four placewinners in the WDA standings will qualify for the state tournament, May 30-June 1 in Minot.
