Mandan wins Class A title

GRAND FORKS – Mandan saved its best for last, the last few holes, actually. The Braves' players, collectively, finished under par over the final two holes and that propelled them to a Class A girls' golf title on Oct. 3 in Grand Forks. It was the school's first crown since 1966 and capped off a season to remember. Mandan senior Anna Huettl cruised to medalist honors. Two other golfers – eighth grader Izzy Hale and senior Ruby Heydt – finished in the top 10. The program also won its first WDA regular season title and West Region Tournament crown. Mandan (629) held a two-stroke lead after day one and held on for a one-stroke win over EDC champion G.F. Red River (630). The Roughriders won the East Region title a week earlier on the same G.F. Country Club course. Fargo Davies finished third (632).
