Mandan is coaches' pick to win WDA regular season boys' tennis crown

BISMARCK – Mandan was the unanimous pick by WDA boys’ tennis coaches to win the conference’s regular season title. The Braves colleced seven first place votes and 49 total points. Minot High earned the other first place vote and was second in voting with 40 points. Last year’s regular season champ, Bismarck Legacy, was third with 36 points.
Rounding out the poll was Minot North in fourth position, just a couple of points ahead of Century in fifth. Bismarck High and Jamestown tied for sixth in voting with Williston in eighth.
A team received seven points for a first place vote; six points for second; five for third; four for fourth; three for fifth; two for sixth; and one for seventh. Coaches did not include their respective teams in their voting. The annual poll was conducted by Matt Mullally, WDA SID.
The 52nd season of WDA sponsored play will get served up Aug. 21 in Minot. Teams will take part in dual non-counter matches. Minot’s annual preseason singles and doubles tournament will be Aug. 22. The regional tournament will also be hosted by Minot, Oct. 1-3. The state tournament returns to Grand Forks, Oct. 8-10.
