Majettes top tennis coaches' poll

BISMARCK – Minot High's tennis team found itself in a familiar spot in the WDA annual preseason coaches' poll. At the top. The defending WDA regular season and region tournament champion loss just one dual last season. That came in the state title against Valley City. The Majettes have several key players returning and picked up eight first place votes to go along with 80 overall points in the poll. Century was second with 70 points and one first place vote. Mandan earned the number three position with 62 points. Legacy was fourth, and collected the final first place vote. The Sabers received 49 points. Rounding out the poll was Dickinson, fifth; Williston, sixth; St. Mary's, seventh; Bismarck High, eighth; Minot North, ninth; and Jamestown 10th. Coaches did not vote for their own team in the rankings. Teams received nine points for a first place vote and eighth for second and so on and so forth.

Notes: This is the 50th season of WDA-sponsored play…Non-counter matches are set to start on Friday, April 10…The West Region Tournament will be hosted by Mandan, May 22-24…The ND state team and individual tournament will be held in Grand Forks, May 29-31.
