Jamestown defeats Wahpeton, 36-33

August 28, 2026  ·  Football  ·  WDA Sports

JAMESTOWN - Jamestown erased a 33-21 fourth quarter deficit to pull off a thrilling 36-33 non-conference victory over Wahpeton at Charlotte and Gordon Hansen Stadium on Aug. 28.

Brady Nenow played a pivotal role for Jamestown, completing a crucial 34-yard pass to Edison Walters on fourth down with under two minutes remaining. That set up a first-and-goal. Running back Aiden Skari capitalized on this opportunity, rushing for a six-yard touchdown, one of his three rushing scores in the game. Nenow, who missed much of last year due to a broken ankle, looked impressive in his return to the field.

Wahpeton quarterback Jack Gilbertson also had an outstanding game, despite the loss. The junior ran for three scores and passed for two more for the Huskies.

Wahpeton jumped out to a 14-0 advantage before the Blue Jays got on the board on Braden Hemminger's TD run. He added a second in the first half. The win was Jamestown's third straight over the Huskies.

Wahpeton will look to bounce back against Watford City (0-1 overall) on September 4, while Jamestown prepares to face Grand Forks Central (1-0 overall) on the same day.
