MINOT - Minot High got the start it wanted, scoring on its first possession. The Magicians continued their strong play, building a 21-7 advantage in the second quarter on a good Fargo Shanley squad. But then, the Deacon's standout quarterback Jacob Perkerewicz took over. The 6-2 junior signal caller ran for four scores and and fueled Shanley's 30-21 come-from-behind win on the Magi's Homecoming night on Sept. 18 at Duane Carlson Stadium. The improved the Deacons to 3-1 overall while Minot remains winless at 0-4.

Shanley outscore Minot 16-0 over the final two quarters. The stinging play for Minot came in the fourth, trailing by seven points. Minot quarterback Ryder Sutton had the ball slip out of his hands near the goal line. He managed to recover it in the endzone. However, the safety provide Shanley a nine-point cushion. Despite that miscue, Sutton had a strong performance, rushing for a pair of scores and connecting on a TD pass to Logan Ludwig in the first half. The victory was Shanley's second over Minot in the past two years and evened the all-time series at eight wins each. Looking ahead, Minot will face Bismarck (3-1 overall) on September 25 in the WDA opener.
