JAMESTOWN - Two goals in the first 11 minutes held up and Jamestown secured its first win of the season, 2-1, over visiting Williston on Sept. 12 at JHS Rotary Field. The win improved the Blue Jays mark to 1-6-2 overall and in the Western Dakota Association. Williston's record now stands at 2-5-1 overall and in the WDA.
Liam Becker opened the scoring for Jamestown, finding the net at the six-minute mark. Owen Sorlie quickly added another goal just five minutes later, extending Jamestown's advantage to 2-0.
Williston's Ryan Serrano, the team's leading scorer, responded with a goal to bring the Coyotes within one. However, that concluded the scoring for the match, as both defenses held firm for the remainder of the game.
Jamestown looks to build on this momentum as they prepare to face Legacy (1-4 WDA, 1-4 overall) on September 15. Williston will aim to rebound against Bismarck (4-2 WDA, 5-2 overall) on the same day.
