WILLISTON - The Williston Coyotes had to wait a day for its season opener as wet conditons postponed its match with Legacy. The wait was worth it.
The Coyotes scored four unanswered goals to post a 4-1 decision over visiting Jamestown on a sunny afternoon at Legends Field on Aug 15.
Williston's Edgar Lopez had three goals and Ryan Serrano had the Coyotes' first tally and assisted on two. Jamestown led 1-0 on Owen Sorlie's marker just a few minutes into the contest. Then, Williston got in gear. The Coyotes' defense was equally effective, with goalkeeper Tristan Boots making key saves to maintain the lead. Williston is 1-0-0 overall and 1-0-0 in WDA play. Jamestown, which earned a tie on Aug. 14 at Minot High, is 0-1-1 overall and 0-1-1 in WDA action.
Jamestown will look to bounce back against Bismarck on August 18, while Williston prepares to face Mandan-St. Mary's on August 20.
