WILLISTON - Williston put together its most complete effort of the season, earning a four-set win over a good Minot High team on Sept. 8 at WHS Jon Cole Gymnasium. After both teams split the first two sets, the Coyotes' grabbed momentum, winning the pivotal third set, 26-24. Junior Averi Austreim had a match-best 22 kills. Abigale Ferlan added 13. That offensive 1-2 punch was tough for the Majettes' to handle. Rylee Irgens finished with 45 digs, keeping points alive from the back row. Two more Williston player were in doubles figure in digs - Kambree McIvor and Alex Austreim. Alex Austreim finished with 40 assists. Minot High had some good contributors as well. Kynsli Gillmore 19 kills and 28 digs. Grace Hegstad also had a strong defensive game with 23 digs. Kiyah Bergrude led the team with 21 assists. Williston improved to 1-3 in the Western Dakota Association and 2-8 overall, while Minot dropped to 1-2 in the conference and 6-3 overall.

Williston looks to build on this momentum as they face Mandan (1-2 WDA, 5-4 overall) on September 10. Minot will aim to bounce back against Minot North (2-2 WDA, 4-6 overall) on the same day.
