BISMARCK - Legacy edged out Williston in a thrilling five-set match on Sept. 17 at LHS Haussler Gymnasium. Williston entered on a three-match win streak while the Sabers were coming off a big win over rival Century.

Legacy started quick, taking set one, but Williston got back into the match winning a close second set. Legacy followed with a win, but the Coyotes put together a sharp four set and extended the match the distance. In set five, Legacy executed a few more sequences of serves and volleys. The Sabers improved to 5-1 in the Western Dakota Association and 8-4 overall, while the Coyotes fell to 3-4 in the conference and 4-9 overall.

Legacy's offense was led by standout performances, including a strong showing in kills and assists. Five Sabers had 10 or more kills led by Brooklyn Pudwill's 21. Marlee Falcon had 13; Finley Fettig, 12; Gracie Watson, 11; and Katelyn Deringer, 10. Zoe Flemmer had a match-high 50 assists. G. Watson had 25 digs.

Williston received a number of contributors, including Hayden Krieger's 13 kills. Alex Austreim again got the offense in gear with 36 assists. Rylee Irgens had a team-best 33 digs and four aces. Abigale Ferlan and an all-around effort, registering stats in four categories.

Legacy will look to continue their winning streak against Mandan (2-4 WDA, 6-6 overall) on September 22. Williston will aim to bounce back when they face Dickinson (0-6 WDA, 1-11 overall) on September 22.
