BISMARCK - Century looked like the team ready to defend its conference title. The Patriots opened conference play with a sweep over visiting Williston at Olson Gym on Sept. 1. Century improved to 1-0 in the WDA and 3-4 overall, while Williston fell to 0-1 in the conference and 1-6 overall.
Century showcased a balanced attack with strong performances on both offense and defense. The Patriots were led by Parker Lutman and Lily Edinger. Both finished in double digits in kills, 14 and 12, respectively. Kindley Pedersen had a match-best 19 digs and Sierra Blotsky posted 18 assists. Williston was led by Rylee Irgens, who finished with 13 digs. Alex Austreim had 12 assists. Abi Ferlan finished with four blocks.
Century will look to continue their momentum as they face Mandan (4-3 overall) on September 3. Williston will aim for their first conference win against Minot North (2-5 overall) on the same day.
