MANDAN - Minot High defeated Bismarck Legacy 3-2 in a thrilling five-set match, advancing with a record of 21-13, while Legacy concluded the tournament at 19-14.
Minot High took the first two sets 25-15 and 25-18, showcasing strong performances from Kynsli Gillmore, who led with 17 kills and 32 digs. Brooke Bedell added 16 kills, contributing significantly to Minot's offensive strength.
Bismarck Legacy fought back to win the third and fourth sets 25-18 and 25-21, with Gracie Watson delivering 12 kills and Marlee Falcon adding 10 kills. Bentley Solem orchestrated the offense with 35 assists and also contributed 15 digs.
Minot High secured the final set 15-11, earning a spot in the state tournament for the first time since 2011. They will face West Fargo Sheyenne on November 20.
