FARGO - Minot edged Wahpeton 5-4 in a non-conference boys' tennis match, improving their record to 8-1 overall and 1-0 in the WDA. Wahpeton starts the season 0-1.
Minot's singles lineup proved decisive, capturing four of the six matches. Connor Ressler secured a win over Watson Nagel with a score of 6-2, 7-5, while Henrik Evanoff defeated Zach Commings 7-5, 6-3. Tyson Barden had a competitive match against Davon Carter, ultimately winning 6-1, 4-6, 10-5.
In doubles play, Minot's Evanoff and Owen Sundahl clinched a victory against Zach Commings and Davon Carter with a 6-3, 6-2 score. Despite Wahpeton's strong doubles performance, Minot's singles successes were enough to secure the overall win.
Next, Minot will face Fargo Davies, who have yet to play this season, while Wahpeton will prepare for a match against Bismarck Legacy, currently 6-3 overall.
