WILLISTON - Minot North edged out Williston 5-4 in a closely contested boys' tennis match on September 23, improving their record to 2-4 in the Western Dakota Association and 5-8 overall. Williston now stands at 1-6 in the WDA and 3-12 overall.
In singles play, Kallon DeLorme of Williston secured a victory against Colton Griffith with scores of 6-4, 7-6 (5). Meanwhile, Brayden Callahan and Parker Vigestad of Minot North both claimed wins in their respective matches, with Callahan defeating Kane Shannon 6-3, 6-2, and Vigestad overcoming Gavin Douglas 6-3, 6-2.
The doubles matches saw Minot North gain a crucial edge, winning two out of three. The duo of Vigestad and Lucas Griffith defeated Douglas and Brooks Bratlien 6-2, 6-3, while Callahan and Reece Blikre clinched their match against Rhett Carns and Carter Anfinson with a 6-4, 7-5 scoreline.
Minot North will look to continue their momentum as they face Bismarck (0-6 WDA, 1-15 overall) on September 25. Williston will prepare for a challenging match against Mandan (5-0 WDA, 14-1 overall) on October 2.
