MINOT - Mandan edged Minot 5-4 in a tightly contested boys' tennis match on September 16, maintaining their unbeaten record in the Western Dakota Association. Mandan improved to 11-1 overall and 2-0 in conference play, while Minot fell to 13-4 overall and 4-1 in the WDA.
Jared Christen led Mandan with a comeback victory over Nolan Moore, winning 5-7, 6-3, 6-1. Deklan Wolschlager also secured a crucial win for Mandan, defeating Oliver Thompson 6-2, 3-6, 6-4. In doubles, the pair of Christen and Wolschlager triumphed over Moore and Henrik Evanoff with a 6-2, 7-5 victory.
Minot's Connor Ressler and Tyson Barden each claimed singles victories, with Ressler defeating Lucas DeRosier 6-1, 6-4, and Barden overcoming Ben Sayler 7-5, 6-3. In doubles, Ressler and Aiden Bye won against Sayler and Eli Kleinknecht 6-3, 6-4.
Mandan will face Minot North next on September 19, while Minot looks to rebound against Williston on September 18.
