MANDAN - West Fargo Sheyenne edged Mandan 5-4 in a tightly contested non-conference boys' tennis match on September 5. The Mustangs improved to 2-0 overall, while the Braves now stand at 7-1.

In singles play, Jared Christen of Mandan secured a victory against Leighton Heick with a 6-1, 6-4 scoreline. Carson Peterson from Sheyenne claimed a win over Matthew Christen, finishing 6-0, 6-4. Deklan Wollschlager of Mandan triumphed over Nick Angus in a three-set battle, 4-6, 6-3, 10-3.

The doubles matches were equally competitive. The duo of Heick and Peterson from Sheyenne overcame Jared Christen and Lucas DeRosier in a comeback win, 1-6, 6-2, 10-6. Mandan's Wollschlager and Eli Kleinknecht clinched their match against Tyler Duffy and Loghyn Schroeder, 7-6 (2), 2-6, 10-6.

Both teams will face Bismarck Century next, with Sheyenne playing on September 6 and Mandan on September 9.
