GRAND FORKS - Grand Forks Central defeated Jamestown 8-0 in a non-conference boys' tennis match on September 12. Grand Forks Central improved to 1-0 overall, while Jamestown fell to 4-7 overall and 1-3 in the WDA.
In singles play, Jason Ling of Grand Forks Central secured a hard-fought victory over Luke LeFevre, winning 7-6 (2), 6-2. Rylan Spicer added to the team's success by defeating Braxton Burkett 6-2, 6-1. Isaiah Cormier and Rylee Henderson also contributed with straight-set wins.
The doubles teams from Grand Forks Central were dominant as well. Brady Fee and Kasen Panzer triumphed over Kale Backen and Aden Oettle 6-1, 6-2. The pairings of Charlie Miedema with Henning Gibbs, Sam Sather with Jackson Bergman, and Bonza Leema with Bennett Berg all secured victories for the home team.
Jamestown will face Minot, who is 3-0 in the WDA and 12-3 overall, on September 15. Grand Forks Central's next match is against Minot on October 9.
