MINOT - Minot High secured a decisive 6-0 victory over Williston, improving their record to 4-1 overall and in the Western Dakota Association. Williston remains winless at 0-5.
Nolan Schmidt opened the scoring for Minot in the 13th minute, assisted by Dylan Oswalt. Oswalt continued to be a playmaker, assisting on goals by Carson Fiske in the 17th minute and Schmidt again in the 21st minute. Ethan Hanson added another goal in the 34th minute with help from Matthew Wistisen.
In the second half, Oswalt found the net himself in the 61st minute, with an assist from Fiske. Tayson Solper capped the scoring with an unassisted goal in the 77th minute. Minot's goalkeeper, Ian Stewart, recorded six saves to maintain the shutout.
Williston will look for their first win against Jamestown, who holds a 2-1 record, on August 30. Minot will face Mandan-St. Mary's, with a 2-2 record, on the same date.
