MINOT - Minot North defeated Mandan-St. Mary's 5-3 in a thrilling boys' soccer matchup. The victory improved Minot North's record to 7-9-1 overall and 7-7-1 in the WDA, while Mandan-St. Mary's fell to 3-6-5 overall and in conference play.
Jayden Marshall opened the scoring for Minot North in the 11th minute with an assist from Gavin Wald. Emerson Ries added to the lead with a penalty kick in the 27th minute. Logan Ovitt scored shortly after, assisted by Ries, to give Minot North a 3-1 lead at halftime.
Conner Lundeen was a standout for Mandan-St. Mary's, scoring twice, including an unassisted goal in the 45th minute. However, Minot North's offense continued to press, with additional goals from Ries and Ovitt, securing the win. Griffin Wald made four saves for Minot North.
Minot North will next face Jamestown on October 11, while Mandan-St. Mary's will look to bounce back against Jamestown on October 7.
