MANDAN - Minot High surged in the second half to secure a 4-1 victory over Mandan-St. Mary's on Tuesday night at Starion Sports Complex. With the win, Minot improved to 6-3-1 in the WDA, while Mandan-St. Mary's fell to 3-4-3.
Nolan Schmidt opened the scoring for Minot in the 50th minute, assisted by Dylan Oswalt. Oswalt then doubled the lead with an unassisted goal in the 68th minute. Despite a response from Mandan-St. Mary's with a goal by Zayden Koppy in the 64th minute, Minot extended their lead with goals from Grayson Steele in the 71st minute and Matthew Wistisen in the 73rd minute, with Steele providing the assist on Wistisen's goal.
Goalkeepers Ian Stewart and Tyler Moe each recorded three saves for their respective teams. Minot's victory snapped a two-match losing streak and allowed them to take four of six points over Mandan-St. Mary's in the season series.
Minot will look to continue their momentum against Bismarck Century (4-4) on September 18, while Mandan-St. Mary's will face a challenging match against Bismarck Legacy (10-1) on the same day.
