MANDAN - Jamestown opened their season with a 2-0 victory over Mandan-St. Mary's, starting their campaign at 1-0 overall and in the Western Dakota Association. Mandan-St. Mary's begins their season at 0-1.
Peace Tumukunde put Jamestown on the board early with an unassisted goal in the first minute. The Blue Jays maintained pressure throughout the match, showcasing their offensive prowess.
In the second half, Grady Eckart doubled Jamestown's lead in the 57th minute, assisted by Miles Anderson. Jamestown's defense, anchored by goalkeeper Evan Harty with seven saves, kept Mandan-St. Mary's scoreless.
Jamestown will face Grand Forks Red River, who are also 1-0, on August 16. Mandan-St. Mary's will look to bounce back against Bismarck Legacy on August 19.
