BISMARCK - Minot North edged out Bismarck St. Mary's in a thrilling five-set match, winning 3-2. The victory brings Minot North to 13-17 overall and 6-12 in the WDA, while St. Mary's falls to 4-26 overall and 2-16 in the WDA.
Brynn Francis led Minot North with 14 kills and contributed significantly on defense with 17 digs. Aven Kelly and Elli Laskowski each added 11 kills, with Kelly also leading the team in blocks with three. LeeAnne Sim orchestrated the offense with 23 assists and added four service aces.
For St. Mary's, Mataya Messer was a standout performer with 26 kills and 15 digs. Lilly Edinger supported with 11 kills and two blocks, while Maggie Meyer provided 23 assists. Sophia Schlinger was effective from the service line with six aces.
The teams are set to face each other again in a region play-in match on November 6 in Minot, providing an opportunity for St. Mary's to seek redemption.
