MANDAN - Mandan secured a thrilling comeback victory over Bismarck St. Mary's, winning 3-2 in sets (23-25, 21-25, 25-19, 25-12, 15-9) at MHS Starion Gymnasium. The win improved Mandan's record to 2-7 overall and 1-2 in the WDA, while St. Mary's fell to 1-8 overall and 0-3 in the WDA.
Mataya Messer led St. Mary's with 16 kills and added three blocks, while Sophia Schlinger orchestrated the offense with 22 assists and contributed a service ace. On defense, Sophia Link tallied 16 digs, showcasing her all-around game.
For Mandan, Jersey Hammes delivered 14 kills and an ace, supported by Gabriele Frohlich's 24 assists and 19 digs. Hadley Harris anchored the defense with 23 digs, and Kennedy Keller added eight kills and six digs to the team's effort.
Looking ahead, St. Mary's will face Bismarck Century on September 11, while Mandan prepares to host Williston on the same day.
