DEVILS LAKE - The Devils Lake football team secured a decisive 39-23 victory over Fargo South in a non-conference matchup on Friday night. With this win, Devils Lake improved to 3-1 overall, while Fargo South fell to 1-2.
Mason Palmer was instrumental in Devils Lake's triumph, completing 15 of 24 passes for 240 yards and four touchdowns. Palmer's connection with Rylan Samuelson was particularly effective, as Samuelson caught a 37-yard touchdown pass in the second quarter. The Firebirds' ground game was also strong, with Bryar Exner rushing for 115 yards on 21 carries.
Fargo South's Austin Morris put up a valiant effort, passing for 189 yards and two touchdowns while also rushing for 76 yards. However, the Bruins struggled to maintain possession, turning the ball over three times.
Devils Lake's defense held firm, allowing just 267 total yards and forcing three turnovers. The Firebirds will look to continue their momentum as they move forward in the season.
