WAHPETON - The Jamestown Blue Jays opened their season with a commanding 23-12 victory over the Wahpeton Huskies on August 29. Jamestown now stands at 1-0 overall, while Wahpeton falls to 0-1.
Jamestown's offense was led by quarterback B. Nerow, who threw for 150 yards on 16-of-30 passing, connecting for a crucial 36-yard touchdown pass in the first quarter. Running back L. Frey added significant ground support, rushing for 132 yards on 18 carries and scoring two touchdowns.
On the defensive side, J. Wharton was a standout for the Blue Jays with six solo tackles and three tackles for loss. The team held Wahpeton to just 124 rushing yards on 34 carries, showcasing a strong defensive effort.
With this non-conference win, Jamestown looks to build momentum as they head into the regular season, while Wahpeton aims to rebound from this opening setback.
