GRAND FORKS - Grand Forks Central opened their season with a 23-12 victory over Bismarck St. Mary's at Cushman Field, improving to 1-0 overall while St. Mary's fell to 0-1.
Grand Forks Central's offense was led by Naz Fisher, who rushed for 109 yards on 10 carries, including a pivotal 36-yard touchdown run. Quarterback Noah Lease efficiently managed the game, completing 10 of 14 passes for 68 yards and a touchdown to Zade Martin.
Bismarck St. Mary's showed resilience in the second half, with Beckett Price breaking free for a 58-yard touchdown run, contributing to his impressive 185-yard performance on 13 carries. However, the team's comeback efforts fell short as they struggled to capitalize on scoring opportunities.
