MANDAN - Fargo Shanley defeated Mandan 27-9 in a non-conference high school football matchup on Friday night, improving their record to 2-0 while Mandan fell to 0-2.
Fargo Shanley's offense was led by Jax Mattern, who threw four touchdown passes, including a 49-yard strike to Derek Boehm. Mattern connected twice with Michael Hollcraft for 12-yard touchdowns, showcasing a potent passing attack that accounted for all their scoring in the first half.
Mandan's Braiden Bosch scored the Braves' only touchdown with a 19-yard reception from Cole Carlson. Despite the loss, Nunpa Kirkie provided a spark for Mandan's rushing game, gaining 41 yards on four carries.
Fargo Shanley capitalized on a strong first half and maintained their lead, while Mandan will look to rebound as they continue their season. The Braves last started 0-2 in 2021.
