MANDAN - Bismarck Legacy clinched a decisive 34-12 victory over Mandan, improving to 6-3 overall and 3-2 in Western Dakota Association play, while Mandan fell to 2-7 overall and 2-3 in the conference.
Legacy's offense was spearheaded by quarterback Brody Weigel, who threw for 223 yards and four touchdowns, connecting with Nick Sanford on a 28-yard score and Jake Link on a 9-yard pass. Yusuf Jama contributed significantly with a 5-yard rushing touchdown and a 4-yard receiving touchdown, amassing 79 yards on the ground.
On the receiving end, Jack Julson was a standout performer for Legacy, hauling in eight receptions for 122 yards and a touchdown. Defensively, Legacy managed to contain Mandan's offensive efforts until the fourth quarter, when Daniel Wentz scored on a 19-yard pass from Kale Rinas, and Brandon Baker broke free for a 65-yard touchdown run.
Legacy's win not only snapped a two-game losing streak to the Braves but also secured them the No. 3 seed in the upcoming playoffs, while Mandan will enter as the No. 4 seed.
