WEST FARGO - Bismarck Legacy opened their season with a commanding 34-18 victory over West Fargo Sheyenne, improving to 1-0 overall, while the Mustangs fell to 0-1 in this non-conference matchup.

Quarterback Brody Weigel led the charge for Legacy with an efficient performance, completing 10 of 15 passes for 168 yards and two touchdowns. His connection with Jack Julson was particularly effective, as Julson hauled in five receptions for 77 yards, including a 32-yard touchdown pass in the third quarter. Yusuf Jama also made a significant impact on the ground, rushing for 81 yards on 22 carries and finding the end zone once.

Legacy's defense was opportunistic, with Brayden Lein returning an interception for a touchdown in the second quarter, helping to extend their lead. The team capitalized on Sheyenne's mistakes, including two interceptions and a fumble recovery. Despite a late push from the Mustangs, including a 59-yard touchdown pass, Legacy's balanced attack and strong defensive showing secured the win.

With this victory, Bismarck Legacy looks to build momentum as they continue their season, while West Fargo Sheyenne will seek to regroup and bounce back in their next outing.
