FARGO - In a thrilling season opener at Sid Cichy Stadium, Fargo Shanley edged past Bismarck Century 20-13. The Deacons improved to 1-0 overall, while the Patriots fell to 0-1.
Fargo Shanley's offense was spearheaded by Jacob Perkerewicz, who delivered a standout performance with a 44-yard rushing touchdown and a 47-yard touchdown reception from Jax Mattern. Mattern also contributed with a 6-yard rushing touchdown, though the Deacons struggled with extra points, failing two conversion attempts.
Bismarck Century's Alex Pedersen was a key contributor, scoring two field goals from 28 and 23 yards. Quarterback Kaden Welstad connected with Zakai Harildstad for a 6-yard touchdown pass, but the Patriots' efforts fell short despite leading 3-0 and 6-3 at different points in the game.
