Girls Golf: West Region Meet

Event Recap

BISMARCK - Mandan earned its fourth-straight West Region Tournament title fueled by an impressive round by Isabella Hale. The junior, who has missed much of the season nursing an injury, has come on strong since her return. Her round of 75 secured medalist honors. Two other Mandan players -- Aliya Copas and Hailey Intveld -- finished in the top 10. Mandan's 328 score was well ahead of the field. The top six finishers earned a spot at next week's Class A team tournament in Bismarck. Legacy was runner-up followed by Minot High, Century, Dickinson and Watford City. For WC, it will be their first trip as a team. Rounding out the finishers was St. Mary's, Minot North, Williston, Jamestown, Bismarck High and TMCHS Belcourt.

Other top finishers included Legacy freshman Rawni Roemmich and Century sophomore Ashlen Larsen. Both had rounds of 79. Mikayla Schwindt of Dickinson finished with an 81. She was named region senior athlete of the year. Weather conditions started foggy, but eventually the clouds broke and sunshine greeted players for much of the afternoon with little wind and temps in the low 70s.
