Girls Golf: Mandan Invite

MANDAN - Condition were cool and cloudy, but that didn't faze host Mandan. The Braves put togeher a solid round to win its home tournament on Sept. 22 at Prairie West G.C. Mandan's 325 total edged Legacy (330). Despite the runner-up finish, the Sabers had two reasons to celebrate. The program officially clinched hits first-ever WDA regular season title which is determined by season scoring average. And two, freshman Rawni Roemmich earned medalist honors. She and Isabella Hale of Mandan had the low round of 74. Roemmich won the playoff to determine the medalist spot. Other notable performances included Ashle Larsen from Century with a score of 77 and Claire Hendrickson from Minot High with a score of 78.Minot High also had good performancing, finishing third. The meet served as the final state individual qualifying event. Golfers who had rounds of 89 or better punched their ticket to the Class A event next month in Bismarck. The West Region Tournament is next on the schedule, Sept. 28 at Riverwood G.C. in Bismarck.
