Girls Golf: Williston Invite

WILLISTON - The WDA returned to Links of ND for the girls' golf regular season after a four-year hiatus. Legacy found the winning touch, edging Mandan for the top spot at the Williston Invite on a sun-splashed Friday, Aug. 21. It was the Sabers' first regular season title since 2021.
The course, near the banks of Lake Sakakeawa, provided plenty of challenge for the teams with several bunkers guarding fast greens. Rawni Roemmich of Legacy earned medalist honors. She, along with Ashlen Larsen of Century and Katelyn Bast of Minot North all had the low round of 83. Roemmich won the playoff among the golfers with a birdie. Other notable performances included Mikayla Schwindt from Dickinson with an 84 and Ella Gravos from Watford City with an 85. Six teams had a least one golfer finish in the top 10. The weather was a bit cool and cloudy to start before the sun burned away the clouds and offered sunny skies. WDA teams return to play on Aug. 24 in Dickinson.
