FARGO - Minot High rallied on day two of the Class A boys' golf tournament on June 3 at the Oxbow Country Club to claim its first state title since 2003 and fourth overall. The Magicians tied G.F. Red River for the two-day total score of 625. However, Minot won the tie-break based on having a better score from its No. 5 seeded golfer. It was a fitting finish on a tremendous season for Minot High. The program won nine tournaments. Williston finished third with a 639 total, the program's best-ever finish at the meet. Minot North, last year's champion, was fourth. The last time WDA teams won successive tournaments was in 1987 (Bismarck High) and 1988 (Minot High).
Senior Kolby Koerner from G.F. Red River earned the medalist honor with a total of 147. Ryker Grinaker from Fargo Shanley finished closely behind with a score of 148. Other top finishers included Tripp Toepfer from Minot High and Stetson Brown from G.F. Red River, both scoring 151 and 152 respectively. Minot North's Kyler Weishaar and Minot High's Parker Argent also finished in the top 10. Conditions for the event were pleasant, but windy at times.
