MINOT - Minot North edged out Legacy 5-4 in a tightly contested boys tennis match on Sept. 8 at Hammond Park. The Sentinels improved to 1-2 in the Western Dakota Association and 5-4 overall, while the Sabers fell to 2-1 in the WDA and 5-7 overall.
Minot North secured crucial victories in the singles competition, with standout performances at No. 2 and No. 3 singles. And a come-from-behind win at No. 5 singles. These wins set the stage for the decisive match in the doubles category, where the Sentinels clinched the victory at No. 3 doubles.
Legacy fought hard throughout the match, showcasing their competitiveness. However, Minot North's ability to capture the key singles matches proved to be the difference.
Looking ahead, Legacy will face Fargo North, who are yet to play a match this season, on September 11. Minot North will aim to build on this victory when they face Valley City, who hold a 1-0 record, also on September 11.
