FARGO - Devils Lake put together an impressive first quarter, scoring three times to propel the Firebirds to a 32-7 win over Fargo South in the non-conference finale for both Division AA teams. DL will enter the conference schedule on a roll, winners of its last three. Fargo South will enter its conference slate at 0-4.

A pair of Firebirds had strong games on the ground. Egan Laite led with an impressive 128 rushing yards on 26 carries. Ben Brodina added to the ground attack with 104 yards on just six carries. Quarterback Talan Gregory efficiently managed the offense, completing 7 of 8 passes for 102 yards. Six different players caught a pass. Defensively, DL held the Bruins to just 179 yards of total offense and only 31 on the ground.

Looking ahead, Devils Lake will face Jamestown, who holds a 1-3 overall record, on September 25.
