Devils Lake defeats Central Cass, 21-19

DEVILS LAKE - Devils Lake edged out Central Cass 21-19 in a tightly contested non-region matchup on Sept. 4 at Roller Field, bringing both teams to a 1-1 overall record.
Devils Lake's offense was led by rusher Egan Laite who gained 127 yards on 27 carries and a score. Quarterback Talon Gregory was 9 of 15 passing and 108 yards and a score. The kicking game was especially important as the Firebirds converted on all three point after attempts. That proved to be the difference.
The Squirrels were led by quarterback Brody Kegley who threw for 334 yards on 30 completions and two scores.
Looking ahead, Central Cass will face Jamestown, who are 1-0 overall, on September 11. Devils Lake will prepare to meet Wahpeton, who are 0-1 overall, on the same date.
