BISMARCK - St. Mary's may be without all-state standout Beckett Price, who is sidelined with an injury. But the squad has found something in running back Collin Fleck. The sophomore has become a workhorse in the backfield for the Saints. That was on display on Homecoming night when he rushed for five scores and chewed up over 140 yards on the ground in helping SM to a wild 47-34 victory over Wahpeton.

St. Mary's offense had its way for much of the game, including the first half when it built a 19-0 lead. Fleck scored a pair of TDs and Keller Hertz Barnett added a scoring reception of 26 yards from quarterback Patrick Richter. The Huskies would cut the deficit to 19-14 early in the third quarter, but could draw no closer. In addition to Fleck's heroics, Richter rambled for a 55-yard score in the fourth quarter. Wahpeton's standout Jack Gilbertson had another big game, rushing for two scores and throwing for two. However, it was the inability to generate much on offense in the first half which put the squad in catch-up mode throughout the evening.

St. Mary's will look to build on this win as they face Minot North (4-0) in the West Region Division AA opener for both teams on September 25.
