Century defeats Bismarck, 27-6

October 22, 2026  ·  Football  ·  WDA Sports

BISMARCK - Century picked up its third consecutive victory and seventh in its last eight meetings against rival Bismarck High on a warm Oct. 22 evening at the MDU Resources Community Bowl. More importantly, it enters next week's Division AAA playoffs with momentum.

The Pats 27-6 win helps to ease what otherwise was a frustrating regular season filled with may close games, but just three wins.

Carter Wylde put Century on the board first on a three-yard run. The defense did its part to shut down the BHS offense. Special teams also played a key role in the victory. Placekicker Silas Kaldor booted two field goals in the second quarter from 43 and 40 yards. The second one was especially key as it came right at the end of the first half.

Bismarck High would climb back into the contest when standout receiver Weston Scott caught a Kaden Molenda pass over the middle and then cut toward the left sidelines and outran Century defenders the rest of the way for a 79-yard scoring strike. However, that momentum was sapped by another Century drive which ended with Wylde's second TD run. The icing on the cake for the Pats came on the first play of the fourth quarter when running back Knoxx Wedelstedt shot through the line of scrimmage and sidestepped a tackler in the open field before going 49-yards for a score.

The loss snapped Bismarck High's four-game win streak. The Demons (7-2 Overall/4-1 WDA) still are the West's top seed for the playoffs and will host a quarterfinal on Oct. 30. Century (3-6 Overall/3-2 WDA) will the West's No. 4 seed and be on the road for its quarterfinal.
