FARGO - Bismarck Legacy captured the Class A state dual wrestling championship with a 44-22 victory over perennial power Bismarck High.
Legacy's Blake Sandness set the tone early with a pin over Brayden Aho in just 1:02 at 107 pounds. Brahnan Heidt followed suit at 114 pounds, securing another fall in exactly 1:00 against Cash Williams.
Despite strong performances from Bismarck High, including Kayden Egeberg's fall over Isaac Hovland at 127 pounds and Cade Nieuwsma's 16-4 major decision at 139 pounds, the Sabers' depth proved decisive. Joey Enzminger's technical fall at 133 pounds and Carter Johnson's pin at 285 pounds were pivotal.
Bismarck Legacy successfully defended its state dual tournament crown with nine wins, six by fall, marking a dominant finale to their undefeated season. Bismarck High's bid for a 20th dual title fell short, but the Demons showcased resilience and talent throughout the tournament. The Sabers improved to 16-0 overall, while the Demons ended their season at 11-4.
